About

Omaha Lightning Volleyball exists to provide home educated students the opportunity to participate in an organized competitive volleyball program that has a distinctly Christian character.

At the high-school level, this is competitive volleyball with high-school substitution rules. Unlike recreational programs, our program offers no guarantee of playing time or position. Playing time will be based on skill-sets, hustle, ability, performance, and attitude toward teammates, coaches and others. Omaha Lightning Volleyball will strive to provide as many professional training opportunities as possible.

Omaha Lightning Volleyball is NOT, however, a win-at-all-cost organization. Our goal is to provide a high-quality, balanced program where talented athletes can grow physically and spiritually and where Jesus Christ is honored in all respects.

Practice begins in August with games and tournaments going through the end of October. We compete locally against homeschool teams and private schools. Our Varsity and JV teams also travel to compete in several weekend tournaments each season. To see a full listing of the games and tournaments visit the Schedule Page.

Cost

What fee does the player pay?  Expect junior high fees to be at $300, and high school fees to be $375 – $500, depending on level. Please note these fees are approximate and vary with each season.

To provide a volleyball program, an organization like ours spends approximately $500-550 per high school player and $350 per junior high player. We pay for court fees, equipment, tournament fees, uniforms, coach expenses and more.

Coaching

Our coaches are volunteers. Parents will be asked to help provide logistical support. If you feel you have a skill that you could use to help the program, please let us know.

Also, our many of our coaches have full-time jobs (and/or are full-time college students) and are taking personal time from their families to support our program. Please remember this, and stay flexible. We stress to our players that all we do reflects who we are in Christ.
